Installing a tow hook?

Installing a tow hook?

Post by FlowmasterNeon » Wed Nov 30, 2011 6:39 pm

Hi everyone, I know all of you are probably gonna hate on me but I want to put a tow hook in the rear of my Neon. My friends are doing it to their cars and it's kind of something we're all doing as a group.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I would go about installing one of these? The Neon doesn't have a stock tow hook I can attach an aftermarket one to. Would I just weld on a hook from another car and then attach the aftermarket one on that?

Thanks!

Just because that's what you see on tuners, granted they do the front too but I just care for one on the back.

your best bet would probably be to attach it to the frame rails on either side. depending on what type of exhaust you have.

Alright. And my exhaust sticks out straight from the drivers side so maybe I can install the hook on the passenger side frame. I'm not sure if the hook will be that visible though since I will have to attach the hook pretty deep in. I was hoping for it to be able to stick out past the back bumper.

well if you want it to actually be functional you might have to choose one or the other

I know this sounds stupid but to be honest I just want it for looks, I don't really have any intention of actually using it haha. If I wanted to get something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-JDM-A ... 2eb98e2ac0 would that stick out past the bumper do you think?

Just bolt it right to the bumper cover. You said you don't care about function.

Cut a slit in the bottom of the bumper on the passenger side, directly behind the frame rail, just a small slit for the tow hook to stick out. Just an idea...

The slit sounds good being that he doesn't care if its just for looks.
