Pull injector plugs one by one to see which cylinder is misfiring. Start there, then figure out if it's due to spark or fuel, or hopefully not compression.

So explain how bad fuel pump, vac leak, or oil leaks would cause a single cylinder miss.Skill wrote:Well if it's just misfiring when you start it up check to see if your spark plugs are bad, clogged injectors, fuel pump failure, vac leak, do a compression test on it, and check for any oil leaks.
If none of those check into your EGR system do a small tune up plugs, wires, filter, ect ...

bad fuel pump - not enough fuel delivery to the car will cause it to misfire.chipdogg wrote:So explain how bad fuel pump, vac leak, or oil leaks would cause a single cylinder miss.Skill wrote:Well if it's just misfiring when you start it up check to see if your spark plugs are bad, clogged injectors, fuel pump failure, vac leak, do a compression test on it, and check for any oil leaks.

Oil Leaks - bad head gasket will cause an engine to misfire.
Even as far as getting a little water on your map sensor can cause a misfire.
I thought they were teaching you something over there? ... and you keep saying this is your "career" of study?
Good thing you still have 1-2 years left.
