new project
My friend and I were talking and I told him that it would be awesome to put a V6 or a small V8 engine is a neon. It will be a RWD car too. It will be a street race car. I first have to find a donor car at a junk yard.
88 Dodge Dynasty 3.0L V6. Mods racing rims and muffler
Very ambitions plans, many have "planned" to do this and weve never heard from them again after the initial post. haha
Hope you have some good mechanical skill and best of luck to you.....

It wouldn't be too difficult to modify the neons chassis, but it would take a lot of time. Back-halve the rear and use a 4-link setup with a Ford 9". It would probably need an x-member and a full cage to handle the torque twist of a powerful v-8. Competition Engineering makes a good 4-link kit for around $250. You can get a Currie Ford 9" for about $1000 and probably have it pre-shortened, or just get a junk yard 9" and cut it.
Ive seen it done a few times, but the only ones worth mentioning came out of race shops. Ive always wanted to build a pro-street style neon with a twin turbo 2.7 V6. Maybe someday when I have more money.
