only holding 9 gallons

every time i fill up my neon holds 9 gallons and it says its full yet the tank size is 12.5 when i looked it up. not sure whats going on. any info would be helpful

Take it it's a 4 door, 2 door is 11.2 gallon,although model year may make a diff., usually it has something to do with the pipe that runs into your gas tank, there is a name for it and I can't remember what it is. My work van does it every now and then, I just pull the gas nozzle out and just pump a little slower until it clicks. Try that, I took my van in and they couldn't do anything to fix it just told me to do what I just said, hope this helps, good luck.

My coupe holds a solid 12 gallons everytime. I've heard that the 95s had smaller tanks though?

Are you filling it from dry empty or is the gauge saying you are on E and you go to the gas station and fill up and it takes 9 gallons?

If it's the latter, then that's normal.

its a 97 4 door. gas gauge is saying its on E. havent run it fully dry. i had the filler neck replaced because it was rusted out and leaking

Filler neck is what I was trying to think of, sometimes the nozzle will click off prematurely depending on the filler neck, try pumping it a little slower next time and see if it takes more.

9-10 gal fill up is pretty normal

It's odd, my gauge goes below E when I forget to fill up or I'm broke... Lol And then the neon's super thirsty and takes a full 12 gallons.

I've put 12 Gallons in mine too. Neons came with 11._ and 12.4 Gallon tanks.

I have NEVER put in any where near 12 gallons. At most 10. I always assumed the neon had a 10.5 gallon tank haha. I always full up when my fuel light comes on

It's only truly 'E' when it's 100% empty.

If E on the gauge mean totally empty you wouldn't make it to the station.

Is your light coming on? Even if the needle has been tampered with and not set correctly the low fuel light should still come on with somewhere around 2 gallons or less depending on tank size. When you fill up where is your needle sitting?
