ur valves and springs wont need to change, and yes u can change the cam without takin head offi think u have to drop the tranny side mount ( i think correct me if im wrong) and that will you enough clearance to cahnge it

Yes you can swap the cam wothout taking the head off.First you have to remove the timing belt and vavle cover the the cam caps.Swap cams and reverse the process. The hardest part is removing the timing belt. After the belt is off its only about a ten minute job.Over all it sould take about an hour.

As stated above it is possible to do without removing the head. I did it that way on my 95. You really have to tilt the engine to get it out though. What cam are you putting in. Don't forget the 95 cam is about the equivalent to a crane #10. I had the 12 in mine when the engine only had bolt ons, then stepped up to the 14 when we built the motor up.

I have a 95 for parts, so I was going to use that cam with a aem pully. I'm also going to grab the ATX throttle body while I'm at it. I am planning on a intake and complete exhaust (headers back) other than that pretty much stock.

I didn't really notice a difference between the 95 vs the 96-99 cam. It might of pulled slightly harder above 5500 rpm. The o1 magnum cam was a noticeable difference from 6,000-7200 rpm using a dohc pcm.

Yeah, even dodge rated it pretty low at only like a 4-6hp upgrade. If you have one and can put it on for free though, I don't see why not do it.

yeah that's about the only reason why I was thinking about it , but I may just do the TB swap than take the engine out of the 95. it burned a little oil so I was thinking about tearing it down and rebuilding it throw in some goodies and picking up another 5 speed trans than I'd have it sitting there to drop in my 96 if the engine or trans craps out.

Hey aftershock if I can get my hands on one fast enough I'm game for a weekender. I'll just have to find a place to crash that night and come back on the next day. But in any case 2 days to just drive my car without the wifey nagging me to slow down would be worth it....if you know what I mean.
