as long as its 5 lug and you don't get wider than 205's on them, yes.

You need a 205/40 tire

Don't forget that you shouldn't put 205/40 on a 6" wide wheel.

Get the right size wheels for the tire size you need to run.

Actually, yes they are. It's based on sizing of the tire. There may be minor differences, but in general they will be the same wheel width recommendations for a given size tire. A 205/50, like the SRT, sized tire is ok on a 6" wide wheel. However a 205/40 needs a wider wheel such as a 7-8" wheel because the sidewall can't flex as much as a 50 series tire.

Why would a 8.1" wide (section width) tire look stretched on a 7.5" wheel?

I think many will agree that Tire Rack is a reliable source when it comes to tires.

Continental ContiSportContact2, same wheel recommendation

Fuzion ZRi, same wheel recommendation

Yokohama Parada Spec 2, same wheel recommendation

Kumho Ecsta AST, same wheel recommendation

I just picked these at random. Try to find one that is radically different than the recommendation found for these 4 tires.

Judging by the last 3 pages, this is the last thread to ask or answer a question.

But the general consensus is that a 205/40/17 size will fit on a 1gn without any cutting of the spring perches or spacers.

A 45 sidewall is tight and a 50 is a no no. These may work by using spacers, but not recommended. Spacers alter the center of the contact patch that works with the factory suspension geometry. Messing with roll centers and instants without correcting them will make the car handle like crap.

Anyone know for a 2gn? Without pissing off the few people that still troll on here?

All Racer was saying was, if you go to tirerack.com, and search for tires, it had a part that says "rim width range". That means that, as the tire manufacturer suggests, you should only go within a certain range. Almost like using lube with a condom. Do you have to? Nah. Does Trojan say to? Yeah. Can you get away without it? Oh yeah. Will it risk the rubber breaking? Well, my son is due Sept 3rd.

Under a 50 series sidewall, most companies I've seen wont let a 205 or a 215 go onto a 6" wheel. Can you force (stretch) it on there? Yeah. Is it a good idea? Probabaly not. Will it work? Probably yeah. What will work better? 195/45/17 will work just fine, no spacer needed.

A 205/40/17 tire suggests a 7" wheel.
A 205/45/17 tire suggests a 6.5" wheel.
A 195/40/17 tire suggests a 6.5" wheel.
A 195/45/17 tire suggests a 6" wheel.

I have yet to see anyone run a 195/45/17 tire. Be a pioneer.

And mods to lock the thread?
