On neons, its the pinch welded part right under where the front fenders are, you can tell cause it is thicker there anyway, and closest to the back where its thicker. Otherwise the lip folds over and sometimes splits. I always use a thin piece of wood and a floor jack to not damage the car. I can't jack up the front crossmember anymore cause the car is too damn low. Lol. Always jack up the crossmembers in the center w/ the wood, and TWO jackstands on each side of the crossmember ftw

Re: jacking points for neons
This is all correct....I used to work at a CDJ dealer is Cincinnati. You can also use the jack at the rear bolts that secure the K-member, just behind the front wheels. It will not damage anything.sandstone wrote:According to the 1997 neon factory service manual from Chrysler, there are 3 acceptable points for using a floor jack to raise the front of the neon: the motor mount, and the left and right 3" diameter L-shaped frame rails behind the front wheels. The jack should be placed at the point (bend) in the L. When raising the rear of the neon, the jack should contact the 3" diameter rear crossmember between the rear wheels, beneath the lateral arms.

I have just enough clearance to use a cut-to-size piece of lumber in the back when jacking up at the rear crossmember.
If I remember right, it is a piece of scrap 2x10 from when I was repairing a floor joist. I recall also using a piece of 4x4 post cut to size, but the clearance with the jack I had was fairly close.

you can try jacking up on the front engine mount, where that heavy ass weight is bolted onto the front. that point is usually the strongest but use a piece of scrap lumber on the jack too.pakman296 wrote:Is it safe to jack the front up from the front radiator support? Its the only place my jack can fit under.
