Tb TPS...Im stuck guys...

Post by Tyler » Wed Feb 21, 2007 10:10 pm

I need to get a TPS of one of my spare atx tb's. I cant budge the bolts for anything and I have to use a Torx socket. Any ideas how to get it off? Im doing nothing but rounding the inside of the bolts out. Ive tried everything I know, help please.

try a 1/4" drive impact driver. Tap it, dont pound it, just gently tap it, but definately hit it with some pb or wd and let it soak in first.

IIRC the bolts have loctite on them. Use a torch and heat the tb in the area where the screws are. The heat should help break the bond of the loctite.

You could try a bolt extractor socket to grab the outside of the bolt so you dont mess up the Torx drive.... they make them as small as 10mm that I've seen.

I cant get it off! Tryed Imapct wrench, PB Blaster, Torx Socket, and Ive been trying to drill them out for 2 days.

Me and Todd have tried 3 drills and every kind of bit we can find. To no avail. These bolts are rediculous!!! Cant get throught them with the bit, even ones specifically made for this. Tried and Easy Out Socket thing and it wont grap to turn the bolt....

What can I do, or does anyone have an extra TPS they can send me?

if you need the sensor use a regular drill bit in the center to drill out the head a little enough that the tps should then pull off the tb.
