I did something similar years ago. Put in a new battery and a week or so later took a small trip, 3 hours away or so. Pulled into a gas station for something and came out to find the car wouldn't start.
Just a loose connection.

Or you hooked up jumper cables the wrong way and instantly drained the battery.

 I did that on my friends Plymouth old ass POS... My friend called me at like 1:30 in the morning and she needed someone to jump her friends car she was with, so I went out there and looked at the cable instructions twice, but I still got them mixed up.

Then it started doing this tsktsktsktsktsk noise and it wouldn't turn over.

Looked at it again, hooked it up the right way, started his car right up, but it wouldn't stay running. I sat there with my foot on the gas revving it up to 1500 for about 5-10 minutes to let the battery charge and then I thought it was still going to die. It turns out that old v6 idles at 500 RPMs

How about when that stupid plug for the fusible link wire randomly falls off. That's happened twice to me it sucks. First time I got starter warrantied (yay lifetime warranty) and 2nd time we just got out the drill press and rigged it up so it would work well enough to get another starter. Well it's still working lol.
