How To: 2gn center console in a 1gn...

Post by NeoN303 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 4:05 am

Want an extra cup holder in your first gen neon? easy...

1. go to a junk yard and find a wrecked 2nd gen neon.
2. take out the console with a phillips screw driver.
3. then you'll need to pull the emergency brake too cause it is off centered to accomodate for the cup holder. all it is, is 2 13mm nuts.
4. disconnect the cables that go to the e-brake.
5. now do the same to your 1gn.
6. now its as easy as putting it all back together the way you took it apart. but i did have to modify one of the holes on the 2gn e-brake, make the hole bigger, to fit.
7. thats it then put it all back together.

that may be very hard to find in a second gen... you just might have to find the color code to the peanut butter and paint it cause i have not came across that yet in a 2gn...

the 1st gen boot doesn't line up perfectly. There is a small gap near the back of it.

ok i fig'd it out ... he forgeot to mention that you have to swap out the clips from the 1st gen handbrake to the 2nd gen so it has enough slack to stretch it back .... just need the 2nd gen boot now , but it's all installed ( Thank God lol )
