How-To: Changing your shifter knob

Post by APN » Tue Feb 13, 2007 12:45 am

This short How-To will explain to you how to install a custom shift knob.
  • Pull down the leather stick-boot
There will be two tabs from the stock leather shift-knob on either side of the stick
Pull both tabs apart and away from the stick and pull the stock knob off
Once you have the stock knob off, you can start fitting your after-market knob on the stock stick.
Your new stick will probably come with a way to attach it to the stick, but if it does not, there may be some modification needed on your part.
Once you get the new knob on and tight, you will want to go and pull up the leather stick-boot.
OH NO! The cover just slides back down now because the part originally holding it up has been removed.
You can use something like electrical tape to hold up the boot.
Pull the boot back up over the electrical tape (or whatever you are holding it up with) and you will be ready to go!
