If it's a Neon then why does is have a different motor and seats and wheels and bumpers and stuff? Explain that!
A ben thread will get me to break my silence.

Just like SRT-8, SRT-6, and SRT-10, SRT-4 is a package applied to a pre-existing model.
Thus far, the SRT-4 package has been available on the 2nd generation Neon and the Caliber. A neon SRT-4 is still a neon, just as a Crossfire SRT-6 is still a Crossfire, a Charger SRT-8 is still a Charger, a Ram SRT-10 is still a Ram...

Mostly True...
All of those cars were listed except the Neon. It was sold as a Dodge SRT-4 they wanted to get that sucker as far from the Neon as possible

Now you're just splitting hairs.
While dodge may have wanted to market the car without the neon name, everyone knows its just a modified neon. The OEM parts catalog even lists it as a neon. Just like the other SRT models, every part can be swapped over to its base model counterpart.
Its like saying an EVO is not really a Lancer because its factory modified, or a GT-350 is not really a Mustang.

Find one place where Dodge ever referenced the SRT-4 as a neon. They even sold it in a different section from the Neon on their website. The Viper, Jeep, 300, etc all had SRTx has a package option. The Neon didn't.
