haha, damn you oil change..

Post by Tyler » Tue May 29, 2007 11:52 am

Well yesterday I was changing my oil, filter, spark plugs, and the works. I drained my oil, took off the old filter, and threw that crap out. As usual, I put on my new filter and put my drain plug back in. I dropped my car off the jack stands, filled the car up with oil and wanted to take a ride.

I was backing out of my driveway and my dad started screaming at me. So i shut off my car and looked in front of me to see about 3 quarts of oil in a trail to my car....WTF??

I popped my hood and oil was all over the firewall, my header, and every suspension part on the car. I thought I didnt fit my VC gasket good in the back(I had it off earlier that day) so I took it off and RTV'd it back. Started it up and it was spraying again, but from my oil filter...

I jacked it back up, took off my new filter to find that the old black rubber seal was stuck on the thing and came off my old filter. So i had 2 seals and it wouldnt let the filter seal and go on all the way. To make a long story short, I wasted 3 quarts of oil got it everywhere, and had a nice frustrating laugh....

damn you oil change

hahahahah I totally did that with my old red highline at my last place. $30 in Mobil1 down the drain, literally. We busted out some Cold Clean and the pressure washer and sprayed it down the driveway, where it ran down the sidewalk and down the end of the neighbors driveway and into the gutter. That shit was stained for the rest of the summer.

did that on my ex g/f's shadow. Although i claim it was her fault because i was "teaching" her how to change her own oil.

She screwed on the filter apparently not all the way, had her start it up and ALL of the oil shot out of the filter onto the floor of the garage. Guess who had to clean it up ... :(

I once forgot to put the drain plug in my Dad's '84 Dodge Ram once too when I was like 17. The drain pan was still under it, but it was full so it overflowed with the fresh oil got all over the garage floor.

I always remember to check this stuff now though. ;)

when changing oil on my charger I had that happen luckly the o-ring prevented me from putting the new filter on so the only oil I lost was from fishing the filter in place around the header and back out then back up in place.

 I have yet to have that happen to me lol. I try to check the old filter to make sure the seal is still on it before I screw the old one on. That does suck though. I tend to get oil dripping down my arm and everything else then onto the driveway. Either that or I'll take the drain plug out it'll shoot out missing the pan and I'll have a big puddle on the driveway lol.

Haha, I just wash it off and put this foam stuff down that we have and it cleans it right up like there wasn't even a spill. It's Magic! :D
