Well school is out for the summer and Adam is back home working on the frame, wish I didn't have to work so damn much but I'm heading up there June 7-10 to tig it all together since he's tacking it with the mig welder for now. Here's some pics:

Some snapshots of the solid modeling:

That's about it for now, Adam is working on cutting more of the steel and we finally found somewhere to bend the damn tubing for the roll hoops, he'll have to come back and pick those pipes up cuz now they are in the basement here and I don't think they'll fit in the Neon very well but we can find out if need be :)

For now yeah. It's rated at like 180 hp. It'll get turbocharged in the future. 300 rwhp and 1500 pounds will kick ass. Street legal too!

Well most of the frame is all tacked together, the roll hoops aren't bent yet tho cuz we can't find anybody that wants to take the time to do 6 bends in these two states. I'm going up this weekend for 3 days to tig all the joints since my buddy can barely mig, and also gonna fab some parts up for the Neon. Hopefully I can go up there some more this summer while my buddy is at drill sergeant school so I can use his welder and tap his sister lol.

Some more pics, frame is 95% done but Adam takes his time uploading pics:

About where engine will sit in back of car:

Trouble getting round tubing to fit on wierd angles?

Pipemaster to the rescue!!!

Yeah I know I look like a dork but whatever we were having fun! You can sorta see parts of the rest of the frame, more pics coming soon I hope.

Next up is suspension, brakes, and getting the engine in and possible running :)

This is the kind of shit I wanna do when I get out of school, more than "turning wrenches" as some people like to put it.

Red ratchet straps are to help pull the ends in on the tubes we paid a couple hundred bux to have custom bent that they messed up on by 2 degrees, we weren't thrilled but it worked. And yeah we know they are pre-stressed now but heating up the corners will help relieve that.

Lol, no updates right now. We haven't gone up there since like August when we went to Brainerd International Raceway to watch the NHRA races there, and we didn't even touch the car. We'll head up there sometime in November. No time now that all of us are back in school, working, and Adam still has drill every month. Plus Badger games take up the rest of the weekends since our fraternity is across the road from the stadium and Adam is in charge of the tailgates.

Up in Minnesota working on this project right now, gonna get the steering rack mounted (Neon rack, it was cheap/free) and make up some jigs to get the suspension stuff mounted soon. Hopefully I can get some pics uploaded of it's current state :)

Well we finally went up and did some more work on this beast. Didn't get much done, most of my Saturday was burned trying to meet up with someone on here to deliver a car they wanted but then they bitched out on me, then we got drunk

Sunday we made up some jigs for the tubular control arms, but didn't have the right tubing at the time so didn't make any. I also went over all the joints and finished welding up what we had just tacked into place and got into some of the hard to reach areas where pipes came in at 10 degree angles and crap. Fun.

Here's updated pics of the frame:

Image

Image

And here's some "fingering" action of the joints. I cut out some 16 gauge steel to fit over this joint to help strengthen it. Wasn't too bad to make really, alot easier than I thought it would have been. The metal formed rather easily too, despite feeling so thick.

Image

May be going up again next weekend to do the control arms, steel is ordered so hopefully it's there by then.

Maybe 250 pounds. I've held it on my shoulders, hardest part was balancing it.
