OK, update. The 2.4 is on hold for now. I've got most of the expensive stuff on hand, but the car is seeing some drag time, and the current mods are supporting that.

Improvements:

LFS 60 MM TB
P'nP'd intake manifold
Modern Performance UDP
Weight redux: radio, speakers, passanger seat, glovebox, door panels, interior panels, headliner, everything in the trunk, some sound deadener, floor brace, rear bumper, trunk springs, rear seats and seatbelts, carpeting.
1GN R/T wheels with Falken Azenias (DR's or slicks soon)

I started installing some used Progress springs and found a bad OE ACR Arvin strut. I bought some KYB's, hopefully they'll be here in time to install prior to Friday (July 20th) at National Trails.

Struts didn't arrive in time to install before the last run at National Trail.

KYB's and Progress springs are in.
'00 hubs with new bearings
'01 PT Cruiser Axles
205/50/14 BFG DR's on R/T rims
Energy Poly bushings on front suspension (bitch of a job)
Rear suspension apart to install Prothane Poly bushings. (Got them cheap, NIB.)
Outboard lateral arm bolt is STUCK. Impact gun, PB Blaster, torch, hammer, cursing, all don't free it. I might need qa new rear spindle if it wont come out.

I had the same problem. I tried everything you did, and I tried an air hammer. Nothing. I finally decided the only option would be to cut the old spindle off and replace it. Damn Ohio winters.

Did you buy this ACR from Matt D? It looks familiar.

Oh, I just saw Matt's post . I liked that car. It was strangely fast for a stock neon. When do you plan on doing the 2.4 swap?

It didn't happen to have a stock cd player did it? I donated the one out of my R/T to Matt to use in that car. If you have it, would you want to sell it?

I'll probably have the machine work and short block done this winter, and have it ready for the spring. I've got most of the expensive parts, block, pistons, rods, head, head studs and oil pump on hand. It should cost about $800 to $1000 for the miscellaneous stuff and the machine work. I may be getting another 3.94 transmission that can get the Phantom Grip that's sitting in the garage. That and a new clutch should round out the driveline. I did manage to get that damned bolt out. The MAPP gas torch and an insane application of the 5 lb hammer was involved. I broke 3 pin punches, must have hit it 200 - 300 times. I'll be sore tomorrow. Tha bad part is that that's only one side

Yes I have the CD player, make an offer.

Engine is at the machine shop. Pistons will be coated, top and skirts by Calico. A high end engine shop, Phillips Racing Engines of Grove City, OH is doing the build. They are also P'nPing the head. I have a Isahara-Johnson windage tray/baffle pan being built also. They are doing the bottom end and the head work, I'll finish the build.

I live in Columbus now, so if you ever need help assembling the engine, or with anything else, shoot me a PM. Maybe I'll see you at National Trails this summer. 8)

Nice! My pistons came in yesterday. JE .020" over 10.5:1's.

It may be a while before I get to put mine together, have to spend a bunch of money on tools first for my new job :(
