Well i put the ATX throttle body back on because the other one didn't line up correctly so i'm guessing it was a factory 2.4 throttle body. It idled at 2k with the factory IAC in the throttle body. Then we changed the IAC to the one that i had laying around and it started to idle t 3k again.

I'm guessing i need a new IAC and possibly a TPS. There is a port hole above the butterfly on the side in the throttle body that is constantly sucking air. If i plug it with my finger and hold the throttle open a little bit i can get it to idle fine but i can't give it much gas without it sputtering or acting like it died until 1500 rpm where it comes back to life and sputters.

A new Duralast IAC at Autozone cost $67.. so tomorrow i need to call some junkyard about one because i don't have $67.. I also need to get a TPS.

Also, i went to Tiger auto salvage today for a sensor and couldn't find the right one but i found these awesome seats i want.

Found this just a bit ago.

I'm probably going to pick up another complete 2.0 dohc intake manifold from the junkyard for $20, use the sensors and such to get it running for now then work on porting the intake and shaving it, just some cheap fun that i want to try.

I kinda got it figured out. I can still take a pic of the intake and tb for ya.

I went to the junkyard today and got a new coolant filler neck thing. I also got a TPS and IAC from the throttle body and a throttle body gasket since mine was missing one. I changed the sensors over and put the gasket on and now it idles fine. at like 800rpm or around there. But i can't really give it any gas. when i go to give it gas it acts like it is going to die then comes back to life around 1500 rpms and holds it around 1500rpm but sits there sputtering. I'm guessing it has to do with the TPS being from an automatic? and possibly the CTS not being plugged in?

Also is there any benefit from running a 2.0 DOHC fuel rail and injectors? i seen somewhere on the internet to run a different rail, injectors, and more fuel pressure for a little more power. Not sure where though.
I seen this fuel rail and it doesn't appear stock unless some 2.0 dohc neons cam with chrome fuel rails.

I know my 00 neon has a chrome fuel rail, so dose my 96, though it came off the 00 and up cars. I dont recall if my 2.4 dose or not. I will have to uncover it and look tom. I have been told by a few guys that race the neons with a 2.4 to use ford 302 injectors, I am guessin they have a better fuel output, I am working on getting a set to toy with one of these days to see what they actually do for my 2.0 I know they will plug into the rail, though ou need to change the plug i would assume.

Ok, i'll have to look into it. And the 2.4 just have an aluminum fuel rail. Mine looks like poo.

I need to figure out this running issue. I can't figure out what it is.

Thanks man, i love that truck. I need to get my Neon running so i can start working on it.

So i changed the TPS and CTS and it still runs bad. I'm thinking it might be low fuel pressure. I don't have $150 to give to autozone to rent a fuel pressure tester.

Does the 2.0 intake have anything to do with fuel? like nothing is different between the 2.4 and 2.0 intake when it comes to fuel does it?

today my buddy stopped by with a fuel pressure tester and a scanner. The fuel pressure test came back at 49-50psi. I also got 5 codes haha. one was for low speed fan relay, one was evap, one was no torque converter sensor or something, and then no torque converter lock up, and then TPS... go figure TPS popped up haha. We were confused about the torque converter codes. Then i found out the car came factory with a sohc auto. He put in the 2.4 and modded dohc 2.0 5speed harness and ran the factory ecu because the 2.0 dohc 5speed ecu got super wet and fried somehow. i have a 2000 2.0 sohc 5 speed computer and the fried dohc 2.0 computer and the auto in the car.

So i'm thinking i should just buy a unmolested 2.0 dohc 5speed wire harness and ecu and re do the whole thing.

My best advice with dealing with modified cars would be to re-do the wiring and replace the computer with the correct one. My buddy bought a swapped 240SX. It originally came with an auto, but they 5 speed swapped it, and they also swapped the head to an S14 head instead of an S13 head. Needless to say, there were wiring problems, and I had to run through that harness like a crash dummy. I fixed as much as I could, but because there was a problem before, the harness got wet, and fried some stuff out. So, basically we've been testing components left and right to try and figure out why it won't start. Damn body shop had to wet the engine bay, didn't they? Anyway, that's my advice. Harnesses are cheap. Just make sure you do the fuel injector re-wire or at least look up the information to figure out if you want to just move the injectors down one, or completely re-wire.

Yeah, i figured i would do that. I have been looking for a 2.0 5speed dohc harness already modded for a 2.4 or just an unmolested one and a matching computer. I'm also looking for a known good TPS.

As for now, i'm going to get a sohc 5 speed ecu because it will work for now. Some how the 2.0 sohc auto ecu worked.

I need to just getting running for right now while i find the right stuff.

ok so i really need some help right now. I have only owned one fuel injected car and i never had to deal with this problem.

The scanner we has is powered through the aldl connector. We noticed when the car ran it would come on with the ecu. So we figured it was powered by the ecu???

Well the ecu that was in it was a sohc auto and the PO gave me a 96 dohc mtx ecu. So we swapped ecus and nothing come on with the scanner and the car wouldn't start. It would turn over fine, the fans come one fine, everything works but the ecu. Also we weren't getting any fuel. So we put the known good ecu that my car ran with back in and nothing changed. We figured the ecu was fried because my buddy insisted that the battery didn't have to be unplugged. So i went to the junkyard and got a dohc ecu for $20. Came back, plugged in it, plugged the battery in and nothing still. We tried the auto ecu again, still nothing.

We also replaced the auto shut down relay and nothing, I have tried to find a ecu connector pinout and couldn't. BTW we also found out the TPS was bad with the scanner when it would run but not rev up to well.

So now i have a new problem with the ecu and can't figure it out.
