Well I did get it running last night. Ran into a few things though. Had to modify the dipstick tube so I could bolt it to the block (never bothered doing that before). Wasn't too bad, drilled old spot welds off, bent up bracket, and tacked it onto tube.
Found out the PT water pump inlet has a different sized nipple for the heater line, 7/8" vs 5/8" on Neon heater core, so I had to find a way to step it down. Ran to hardware store in town, they didn't have jack shit. Ran to Menard's in Madison, about 20 minutes away. Grabbed some brass fittings. Got home, realized I grabbed 2 5/8" nipples instead of a 3/4". Ran to hardware store, didn't have that nipple. Ran to Menard's, stopped to get gas along the way and my NYG died just before gas station. Got it started again and put in a half tank of gas as I didn't feel I ran out.
Almost got to Menard's and the bitch died. Fuel pump wouldn't kick on. WTF. Check fuse, it's ok. Pop cap off fuel pump relay and squeeze it, nothing. Squeeze a few more times, and pump kicked on rather weakly. Started car, drove 3 feet and it died, but at least I was out of the way. Called my gf and she took the scenic route to get to me. Pushed car with her Neon to gas station and left it there for a while. There's almost 2 hours wasted there.
Got everything in the Pirahna, fired it up, found out I forgot to block off EGR. Didn't have time to dick with that, so I put on an EGR I had and blocked off the tube inside with a small piece of gasket. Still had to get my NYG home so I called my roadside assistance. After a half hour of being put on hold, then being re-directed to my account info and calling again, got ahold of someone. Told her to try Prairie Land Towing cuz every other time I called (4 times) and got a tow truck home, that's who they used after putting me on hold for half an hour trying to find someone. Well she told me they had to use someone from Madison since that's where my car was. Whatever, that's where my cars always get picked up. Half hour later she tells me Prairie Land is on their way. Thanks dumb bitch.
Dude shows up and says "Hey you're going to that house with like 50 Neons, right?"
(I live right down road from gas station where all the city cops/ambulances and also Prairie Land Towing fills up their tanks).
So now I gotta get a ride to work since I didn't quite get Pirahna done yesterday. It's leaking coolant from my brass nipples, and I didn't quite get an intake on it. But it's 99% done.
Still gotta fab up a battery tray but I got something that works for now. It's nice that every bolt for the battery tray has snapped off in this car. Lovely.
