Project "Donna" *updates* May 5/08

Post by aftermarketguy » Tue Jan 15, 2008 12:10 am

The girl I bought it from named her "Donna"....so it works for me, I'll keep working with it.

She's in good, decent shape, 112,000 kms on it. Will need a lot of cosmetic work, both inside and out. But runs nice and is a good platform to start with.

Been busy here in the For Sale forum and Ebay.

Pics from today.....this is what I am starting with.

Items are just coming in from various people on here, the "org" as well as from the nice folks at Modern & who can forget Ebay.

Let the modding begin. :D

nice platform, that thing is pretty clean. One hell of a parts list too. That car wont even be recognized as the same car. Just do it right, not riced.

I think you know what you'll be doing with your spare time in the next couple of months ;)

Nice shopping list though, I wish I had at least half of it.

Well, STS and new floor carpet is done.

The STS swap was TOUGH! But all in all it was worth it. The booger bushings were the toughest since my STS has both pins facing the same way and it was a lot harder to install the boogers to fit properly (doesnt help that it's way too cold here to be working out in the garage right now).

Carpet I rec'd from ACCMATS was terrible. Not even close to the size required, so a lot of trimming was needed to make it fit right. Layed down a good layer of B-Quiet underneath the carpet, went down fairly easily with a heat gun. Just mostly layed it down on all the flat spots.

My SRT-4 seats went in without a hitch, both front and rears. The rears I still have to work on since the tabs didn't go on well for the left and right in the bottom of the seat. It's a work in progress.

I will try and post some pics tommorrow with more light out.

NEXT UP......Tearing apart the dash pieces to clean and replace. Trunk sound dampening will follow, along with new trunk carpet.

Ok, well, it's been a while since I've worked on the car.

Here's what's been done recently.

SRT-4 Seats, front and rear

Floor carpet

B&M short shifter

And this............

Old headlights and grille....

.............also added clear corners....

And SRT-4 17" wheels and Falken Ziex-912 tires.

In all, the headlights took about 90 mins to do from start to finish. Most of that time was just loosening and tightening the one bolt for each headlight that you had to access lying under the car. That, and just taking my time with the dremel to cut the panel for the passenger light, like everyone else has seem to have done as well.

It's a good start, and more pics to follow.

Much more stuff still to come.

It looks like you need to add the spacers to your headlights...

Spacers for what? Alignment?

It's funny, but from what I've seen with most guys lights not lining up, these actually both fit pretty good. I even did the passenger one first and and lined up pretty good against the driver factory light position.

Some fine tuning adjusting it might be needed, I'll take it out at dark tonight and see how the beams line up.
