New Project!!! Going DOHC Turbo

Post by SloUSDM20 » Thu Dec 27, 2007 10:42 am

Well I came to a decision. I Bought a DOHC head and started porting it then I fell out of it, then I was at a debate whether I should stay Single-cam N/A, go Single-cam boost, then I figured SOHC with spray would turn some heads, Hell I even thought about doing the 2.4L SOHC. Then earlier today, I realized that I ultimately really wanted to go DOHC(well actually for a couple of days Ive been thinking of it). Thats what I wanted to do then in the first place. So the new and definate project build will be a DOHC Turbo. pics will be up tomorrow of the head and parts. the head has a street(home-made) port, with the stock valvetrain for now. I will be taking the head to a local performance machine shop tomorrow as well to get cleaned/milled and new valve seals will be installed. Cams...stock for now. After the machine work, the cleaned up valvetrain will be re-installed and the head will be reassembled.

I have an SRT4 FMIC, Walbro 255(installed), Adj. FPR, and I have SRT4 stage 0 injectors.

I will be purchasing an SRT stock turbo/manifold/wastegate with oil lines and O2 housing next week.

I just need to tap my oil pan, buy fuel lines and fittings, BOV, downpipe, IC piping, boost lines, boost guage, manual boost controller. and all of the DOHC stuff like the timing belt, cover, new head gasket, etc., etc....

any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I would post on neons.org but all Ill get is the "search" response. I see that the swap and turbo parts and installation is pretty much basic as far as the mechanics go, but Im not very much experienced in Turbos if any at all, thats where you all come in at.

Thanks!

Why waste the money on Accel 19lb injectors? You already have 19lb injectors.

I wouldn't waste the money on a cam if you don't get the 14.

Honestly, you really don't need 2.5 inch exhaust tubing to meet your goal. The stock tubing and a DOHC muffler would be plenty. I'm making almost 275 whp through a stock SRT-4 cat converter, the stock tubing, and a Thermal rear section muffler.

Here is my suggested list:

DOHC PCM
long tube
crane 14
ghetto-blaster intake manifold
SAFC 2
DOHC muffler or random fart can

So all I really need to do as far as the head swap wiring is extend/swap the CTS plug, swap plugs for the CmPS, extend wires for the IAC and TPS? well after I get my head back out of the shop, I guess Ill get to work

New list of parts to come:

SRT4 turbo/manifold/o2 housing and oil lines
Blow-off valve
Manual boost controller
Intercooler piping
SAFC I or II
exhaust(downpipe)
fittings for oil line tap in pan
boost gauge and accessories
Turbo timer

Things I have already:
Walbro 255
Adj. FPR
SRT4 stg. 0 injectors(might not use them)
SRT4 stock FMIC
