It runs and drives! After a few coolant leaks, all is well. The engine sounds great and I cant wait to get into it after the break-in. I will get it on the dyno in the next couple of weeks.

Looking good man! BTW where did you get your torque plate?

I broke in the engine on the dyno yesterday. I didn't do any pulls, but I logged about 30 miles on the engine. This thing pulls hard all the way up to around 6800 RPM, which is my current rev limit with the SOHC PCM.

I'm going to dyno it on Monday and see what its got. I figure I will do one pull at 6psi to compare it to the last time it was dyno'd. After that, I will turn it up. Ill try to get a video of the dyno runs.

I'm going to start the MS install in a couple of weeks, so hopefully everything will go smooth.

I made a pull on the dyno today. I kept it at 6psi because I wanted to compare it to the dyno I had done at 6psi before the engine build. It hit 168whp and I forget the torque (oops). I made 178whp before the build.

The loss in hp with the new engine is actually less than I thought it would be. I'm now running lower compression and a SOHC PCM (less total timing). I tried to raise the boost up to 10psi, but a pressure tube blew off when it hit 7psi . I ran out of time, so I will make some more pulls tomorrow.

I made a few runs today. I finally got to boost over 6 psi. I welded beads onto some of the tubes that kept blowing off, and I replaced my manual boost controller.

This run was spiking at 15 psi, and holding 13. Sorry for the shitty pic. It reads 232 whp and 221 wtq. Its still a little low, but then again I only have an FMU to tune with. My MS arrived in the mail today from RS Autosport, so the install should begin soon. Hopefully then I can make some good numbers. :D

Yeah seems real low for 13 psi. A/F ratios? You can put down plenty of power on a FMU lol, but MS is better obviously

Glad to see it going, you can probably pick up a good 50 whp with tuning on the same boost levels, adjust ignition timing and a/f ratios and should be set. We gained almost a full second on my buddy's turbo R/T at the track recently from runs 1-5 just by datalogging and adjusting a/f ratios in Megasquirt. It was still slow as balls cuz of the toasted 16g but now the 20g is on and it's good to go. :)

Yea, I have a feeling the SOHC PCM is pulling a lot of timing in boost. It really helped out with detonation on the stock internals and local crap gas though. I may switch back to the DOHC PCM and do a few pulls.

It got real lean in boost at high RPM, somewhere around 13:1. I could probably get more power out of it if I messed with the fuel, but I really don't want to bother if I'm switching to MS soon.

That's what i meant. 13:1 is about right for N/A.

PCM shouldn't even know you are in boost to pull timing if you have a MAP clamp or missing link. But I think the SOHC PCM has less timing advance than a DOHC in the first place. MS has infinite timing

But you don't wanna go too far, that shit'll be burning before your intake valve closes

Less timing advance is what I meant, sorry. I'm hoping to switch to E85 in a couple of months, so hopefully I can squeeze a little more advance in when I do that.

Sounds like what I'm gonna do once I get my motor built.

Which reminds me, time to update my log :)

Ive done some more work on the car lately. I pulled the engine back out because the front and rear oil galley core plugs were leaking. Pissed. I took this time to paint the engine compartment and re-route the fuel system and wiring. Ive wired up the engine harness for MS, now I just have to put the engine back in to finish it. I should look pretty clean when I'm finished.

Its Duplicolor low-gloss black engine paint. I painted the block and the engine bay with it.
