I finally got the engine out today. I will start the tear-down of it tomorrow.

I found it interesting that the original clutch with 142,000 miles was not significantly worn. There is still plenty of material on the disk.

Hopefully I will be able to clean things up a bit. There is a lot of rust on the engine and under the hood. Stupid Ohio and their salt.

I almost have the engine apart. I only had a few hours to work on it today, but I managed to get it stripped down to pretty much just the block and head. I will finish the tear down tomorrow and do some measuring. Hopefully I will have the block at the machine shop next week.

Yea, it needs some help in the beauty department. Its going to get cleaned and painted black again. I'm having the valve cover powder coated textured black. I think I am going to go for a factory turbocharged type of look, but its kind of hard to hide the bling of the cam gears, fuel rail, and the AN hose and fittings.

Finished disassembling the engine on Friday. I was very pleased that the engine looked great when I disassembled it. I measured the cylinders to have only .001 of taper. The crank journals are in good condition, but I am going to polish them and run .001 undersize bearings. I'm hoping to get the block to the machine shop tomorrow.

I ordered some parts from Modern yesterday.:D

Yea, there really isn't much wear on them at all. I guess routine maintenance and good oil do make a difference.

Ive used only Mobil 1 and Valvoline Premium Blue extreme (5w-40 synthetic diesel oil). I would use the Valvoline all the time but its very hard to find Premium Blue Extreme. I have been using Mobil 1 for the last 10,000 miles or so. Both of them are very good oils, as you can see from the pictures. Most engines with 140,000 miles on them don't look that good inside.

I took the block to the machine shop today. Thankfully he said it shouldn't take more than a week to do the block. I'm going to chamfer and de-burr the crank myself, and then give it to the shop to balance.

The torque plate came in today. Its a big piece of billet aluminum! Now I can have the machine shop finish the block.
