Got my 'new' car -
Went from this:
To this:
(The center console is out because I was cleaning it)
Specs:
1995 Base Model
No PS, A/C, ABS
4 Lug (woo hoo my miata wheels fit!)
Disc in front, drum in rear
Issues:
-Will need a clutch soon
-Needs steel fuel line (currently spliced with a hi-pressure rubber hose)
-Timing belt done around 70,000 miles with headgasket @ dealer, original water pump (!)
-Unsure of actual mileage (cluster was replaced) estimated @ 105,000 on car/engine
-Small rust hole on rear left quarter, going thru to trunk
-I think it needs a new fuel filter...
"Mods":
-Iceman intake
-AF/X 55mm TB
-AF/X UDP
-Broken AF/X bobble strut
-Battery mounted in trunk
-Over sized radiator (was cheaper than non-ac)
-Homemade EGR block-off
-Intake mani opened up by hand @ the head
-Mustang injectors
-Used DOHC tranny
-Borla muffler
Ideas/Future Mods:
-I need headlight gaskets, I has none
-Take foglights out
-Take wheels off, sandblast, repaint with silver paint (clearcoat is peeling, etc) - possibly swap Kosei K1's from my Miata onto it
-Take out amp/speakers/wiring/radio/antenna, I don't need any of it (use aluminum block-off plate or cubby hole in place of radio)
-Rip carpet out, it's dirty, smells, and I'm fine without it
-Plans are to stitch weld parts of the car, I'll probably try the interior first
-Take back seat out
-I need to do something for a steering wheel... this one is uber ugly
-Possibly a repaint in the same color, PQK
-SRT-4 seats in the front
I currently have:
-F/R strut tower braces, unsure if I will install
-Stock rear sway bar, I need brackets (pull a part)
-A set of new Duralast front pads, came with the car, need installed
-Used, unrusted/peeling window trim mouldings to go on...
-I just installed Silverstar turn signals up front, only because I had an extra set and the aqua color matches
-I have other pedal covers (titanium look) to install (currently has weird blue ones), but might go back to stock rubber covers
I love the color.
I haven't driven the car yet, only moved it out of the garage and back in twice.....no plates yet, I got the title transferred and then the license place closed, lol.

The title was transferred back to my dad, I took insurance off of it, and he's driving it to work once I get normal seats back in it.... So technically, it's his now I've got to yank the solid MM's off of it, he doesn't like how much it vibrates. When I moved it around in the driveway the other day... um.. yeah, I forgot how bad the vibrations from those wereINVUJerry wrote:You didn't get rid of the R/T did you?

The definition of a NEON
A great domestic compact car whose rapidly disappearing taillights are most typically seen through the windshields of Honda Civics, Chevy Cavaliers, and other assorted shitboxes.

That's what I'm hopin No options = lightweight + 95 cam + simple bolt-ons + I've got the 3.94 DOHC trannymean98neon wrote:I didnt no there was a neon that came from factory without PS... that thing will be light.. and the 95 cam is strong.. I bet it will fly
I'm gonna weigh it on the way up to my house to do the fuel line. There's an old weigh station by me that is within 20 lbs accurate--so look for a weight posted in here soon. I can only hope for 2400ish, lol. I doubt I can get it as low as my miata
I like the bumpers, just wish they had come with the fog holes. I <3 the fog hole bumpers. Actually I like the DOHC bulge hoods, too. Maybe I'll pick one up.Ladi3sman55 wrote:monkey man used too.. and i see one at my school everyday.. i hate how the bumpers are grey on them tho

I do like it. I think it'll weigh in around 2200lbs.
Delete the A/C, back seat, some of the carpeting and padding, pull the rear bumper supports out and maybe cut some holes in the rear bumper, that starts a good set of mods for that car.

I was looking @ ur profile and I thought it was more green than mine. I've never heard of that color before either!fayt99 wrote:nope, mine is the Bright Jade Satin Glow, PQM.
If it weighs 2200 lbs I will be INCREDIBLY happy. My tiny Miata stock with almost all options was 2290 and I took crap out and added a rollbar and am at 2240.INVUJerry wrote:I do like it. I think it'll weigh in around 2200lbs.

Oh, and I already have no A/C I'm trying to keep it as sleeper as possible (no holes in rear bumper lol), all the cops around here know me and my cars (that was half the decision to switch the neons up ). I actually need to make this Neon a little bit quieter, it has a small exhaust leak. That will get me spotted right away.
Anyways I am sooo excited to have this Neon that I actually don't feel right saying that

Updates, car passed echeck!! So now I have plates and the fun shall begin (the car has been sitting since I got it).
Passed with flying colors, actually. Wasn't anywhere near the limits for the testing.
I actually got to DRIVE it today and first impressions are this:
-Holy crap the steering is slow. Manual rack ftl.
-It feels pretty quick!! o_O
-I need to wrap the spring on the TB one more time or install a manual spring... the gas pedal is way too touchy.
Recent additions/mods:
-Attempted to bleed the brakes. Tried twice, air is coming in from somewhere. I fear something with the master cylinder is going, but my pedal feels normal.
-I had installed a less-rusty midpipe, grinded it down and painted it with silver hi-temp paint
-Cleaned up the borla muffler and shined the tip
-Took the brake and gas pedal covers off, the clutch one is fused to it haha
-Tried to air out the car, I cleaned the trunk out... the car still stinks tho There was coke/beer/something spilled in the trunk... and it seems it was there for a while!
-New fuel filter and hi-pressure rubber fuel hose (and lo-pressure hose for the evap) since Chrysler apparently discontinued the metal lines....
-Removed the broken bobble strut, will probably replace with one from Vitor.
-Installed a temporary trunk lock from the JY, since mine was broken.
-Tried my 15x7 +38 Kosei K1's on the rear, the tension struts rub em, so I'll have to fix that
-I also found some stuff on the clearance rack @ Summit one day, I picked up a Civic radiator with SPAL fan (niiiice), and Simpson 6 point platinum harness (was way cheaper than the same harness I have in my Miata but 5 point!)
I think that's it.... I still haven't got to wash it yet!
