M5 discovers a Neon has midrange acceleration :-)
That happened to me before the US trip but hadn't had time to post it. I was on my way to a night out with my wife, cruising nicely in the outside lane of a 3-lane street @ around 90km/h (70 speed limit) when I get a series of angel eyes in my mirror. I couldn't go any faster as I had a car in front of me and another one was coming up of the middle lane.
Fool flashes his high beams and attempts to pass in the middle lane (without signalling of course).
I figure it's a 520i or 520d (that's what most 5-series are here) and decide to give him a lesson. I signal, drop it back in 3rd and floor it. The BMW looks like it's been stuck in mud. I get her to 150ish kph then drop off as we arrive to the next set of lights.
That's when I saw what kind of 5-series I just had smoked :
Driver of course passably annoyed
Oops. Maybe he missed a gear ???

Ive been in an BMW M6 when my buddy worked at Beemer... same motor.. the 500HP V10.... Its a fact that he didnt think nething of your neons mid range speed... If uve ever actually heard one of these M5's goin down the road.. it sounds like an F1 car it is insane!.... I heard it coming, had no idea what it was.. was waiting for a ferrari or a lambo to come around the corner... and then the sedan comes out of nowhere! unbelieveable engines in these cars... so please just stop saying he thought your neon had any kind of midrange speed.. Im sure he didnt even down shift or put the throttle down 1/4 way....
98 ACR SEDAN.. Magnum SOHC.. 14.46 @ 94MPH SOLD
98 Base Coupe, 2.4 SRT turbo @ 16 PSI.. 3xx whp 1/4 unknown

I think the M5 makes as much whp at idle as your neon does at peak =)
Daily Driver: E34 BMW M5 Turbo 500WHP/500WTQ+ ~3500#
Winter Beater: 96 Neon ATX Sedan 100whp ~2000#
Other Beater: 92 DA Integra LS-Turbo 300whp/280wtq ~2100#
Working my way up to 1000whp =) The driveway needs just one more Holset to get there...
