Best run

Image

Disappointing because that's with drag radials, urethane suspension bushings, new KYB's, PS removed and an alignment with everything set to zero (or as close as practical).

High points: 60' times (in order)- 2.191, 2.133, 2.124, 2.807, 2.094, 2.107

R/T's (in order): .644, .612, .414 (crap!), .630, .537 and .520

Low points: expected better times. On run #4 I had the best 60' (2.087), racing a late model 'Vette. I had him at the bottom of first, stayed even through second than slammed.........1ST!!!!! OH SHIT!!! Thought I blew it up, scared the absolute shit outta' me, lol. The next run I was a little tenative shifting. Oh well.

Notice the truck's time. He broke. I think that was the largest margin for anyone last night, lol. Turbo deisel truck are suprisingly fast, usually.

Getting the front control arm big bushing in was a bitch. Read the directions before you start. Some of the OE bushing metal shells need to be re-used. I learned that the hard way, lol. You need to grind the front control arm, where the front bushing goes in a little. You'll need a precision caliper and a bench grinder to do it correctly. The rear bushings were pretty easy. Getting the 12 year old, rust impacted shit apart was another matter. Prepare yourself for problems. The passenger side rear lateral arms through-bolt was frozen in the spindle. It finally pounded out, but took as much work as anything I've ever done on a car. I had the spindle in my big bench vise, hitting the bolt from the small end with a 3 lb sledge, standing on a step stool over it for leverage. I must have hit it with full strength 200 - 300 times, no kidding. I used PB blaster like holy water and heated the crap out of ot with a MAPP torch too. Complete bitch of a job. The alignment guy loved it though, lol.

tom, it seems like you are falling off in the top end looking at your low end times.
Youve got the 60' times to be in the 14.40's or so. When are you shifting? which dr's are you on?

Shifting at 7400 1-2, 7200 2-3, 7200 3-4. if I hold third through the traps, the rev limiter kicks in. On run #2 I ran 14.763 at 84.45 with a 2.133 60', staying in third. Tires are BFG DR's 205/50/14.

Nice times. I got a set of Prothanes for the front lying around, but I don't feel like installing them yet cuz I know I'll bust that nut off for the control arm. Maybe next time I'm up at my buddy's place so we can weld the bitch back on when it breaks lol.
