My track cherry was popped last night

Post by Lackof » Wed May 09, 2007 1:27 pm

Made my first passes last night at ORP dragstrip with a few other neon buddies watching and running. Take it easy on me this was my FIRST ever run at a track and with my car. I should be running mid 14s with this setup, but i suck at driving and my tires suck nutts also. I can only get better though ;) I ran with a full interior and almost no weight redux and the car is un-tuned (running super rich and gears still zeroed out). I believe these runs were on 22-25PSI up front and 40-45PSI in rear on my 195/50/15 potenza S0-3s.

Here are my top three slips from the night. ( I need 60s work a lot. I can't keep from spinning for the life of me)

I'm car #362

no chip your car can hang with mine when i don' t know how to drive it. The only thing that drives your car is your ego.

Well I'll see what it runs now this weekend if it doesn't rain, although I'm debating taking the interior out cuz I need it to run 14.0-14.1 by the 27th :?

And your trap times are actually LOWER than mine were with the similar times (except the day my TPS was unplugged but the thing ran like poo that day). I was trapping over 92 all day the first time I took it to the track, even when I was only hitting 15.4's towards the beginning.

Lol laugh all you want, I'm not the one claiming that my car runs "low to mid 14's on street tires and 13's on slicks" before I ever took it to the track. My goal this weekend is 14.7 still on street tires/full interior, and 14.5 if I borrow some DR's or strip the interior. If I do both, 14.3 is the goal. I prolly won't hit them but you never know.

And my car runs faster with way less mods and money into it. I think my engine cost less than those cams did!

i laugh because you seem to have the attitude of having done it all and seen it all. and if you are referring to me, i have timeslips for every run i've made since 2003 with this neon, and a good chunk of runs i've made with most of the cars i've had going back to 97 when i started racing thanks.

I dont need to get on here and be a prick, i'm pretty damn sure i'm the only one on this site whos raced at a pro level for any period of time, also pretty sure i'm the only one on here whos dipped into the 7's, not in a fwd obviously but regardless, si racing has a saying that you exemplify. RUN YOUR CAR, NOT YOUR MOUTH.

I would absolutely love to run you, but doubt that'll happen unless you end up at etown or atco.

I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to Skill. He's been posting on other sites that his engine is "fully built" and that it runs low-mid 14's on street tires, also on here about not having traction until 3rd gear and claiming it wasn't the tires or driver. I told him he'd have a hard time hitting 14.5 and he never believed me. I didn't realize he'd run THAT slow.

And I know your car would beat me as it is now, I got some stuff to install yet when I can let my car sit for a few days but I can't working full-time on top of a full load at school. Goal is only high 13's this year and I'll leave it be hopefully, I got the ACR to build yet.

no chip for the millionth time when i said fully built it's fully built to my standards as to where i want the car to go  .. .search out my posts and i tell you that all the damn time you bring that up.

My car can run mid 14s there are a lot of guys with the same setup and ones that have lesser then i do and can still kick my ass. it comes down to me driving the damn thing end of story.

Once again search it out i said i wouldn't run fast on my first tries and i never claimedi would be in the low 14s and 13s on street tires ... check supercars.net to where i said i would need slicks to grab that close. I do spin until 3rd ... ask the fellow neon dudes that were there last night. This could also be related to my tires that i'm running.

my third gear is a more of chirp but my 1>2nd is an aweful wheel hopp.

weather was hott and humid all night.

the track elevation is 700 which isn't much at all.

I was shifting all over the board to try and get a feel for what was best. So i couldn't honestly tell you a consistent area as to what i stuck to. I did miss 2nd once, and 4th twice. I was shifting to 4th a few times and then i would let 3rd run out. So i was just trying to get a feel for things.

OK. Here's a very simple question.

DID YOU HAVE FUN?

THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT.
