Well, no, but theres a way it will bypass it, however, if you don't leave it in neutral there is a possibility it could roll off.

A remote starter on a MTX car is not smart.

remot e tarters arent all that cool. I got one and it works 50% of the time. I pretty much have to go on my front porch and puch the button and wait for the running lights to turn on and then let the button go. not worth it IMO

Why is that? I have one.

It's not smart because the correct safety features are not there. My remote starter (on my manual trans car) has the proper safety features.

wickedgoodneon: have you changed the battery lately? There are some that are cheap and don't work well.

I don't know exactly how they work, but I don't need to. The brain of the system knows all that. Whether it is just a preset timer, or whatever it is.

Have you left your car in 1st and hit the remote start? I don't know how these work.

With my system, you have to arm the system before you get out of the car. Then, if the door is opened it is deactivated.

The safety features would be a function of the system, but if there are any sensors they would be a part of the car.

Mine does to thats why I was wondering why it was unsafe but now I understand he was saying its unsafe to modify an automatic starter to work on a manual.

Yeah, thats why he was saying.

An auto system can be used if the clutch safety switch is removed. But the consequence of leaving the car in gear and then starting it is too big for me.

I do not recommend the use of a remote starter for an automatic trans car in a manual trans car.

My neon came with a remote starter. It also came with an automatic transmission. When I swapped in the MTX I knew the clutch switch would make the remote starter not function, so I just left it like that. I wouldn't like it if it was left in gear and I go to start it in the morning and it drives off. That would suck.
