have a ?

Post by Mini_Viper » Sat Jul 28, 2007 12:11 am

i was wondering how hard people think it would be to remove the 6x9's and make my marks and cut hole to put sub's in the area then build my box from the bottom and custom make a piece to put down in the window area. then put some kind of good mid range speakers on the rear seat belt covers.

Thanks James

well.. it depends on wat u think is hard.. and your budget..
wat size subs are you planning on putting in?
from wat i am pictureing you are cutting a bigger hole where the 6x9's are and putting subs in those holes.. then building a box from the subs down to the floor of your trunk..
if that is what you are doing it will take some very acurate measureing otherwise ur box will be suspended in the air if its 2 short and if its 2 long it wont fit at all.. are u removing the spare tire?
personally i would say just build a reg box setup and put your subs in there.. but i would love to see this done.. so w/e u think u should do..
good luck

yes building a box to fit from the bottom to the truck floor thereis no spare anyway i know if i take my time i could do it.

I was think maybe some tens I was just wondering how hard people thought it would be to cut the metal back there.

If i do this i will post pic's as i go so people can see how it's done

Here's two questions you should ask your self.

#1: Can I do it?
#2: Will my subs sound good like that?

I personally have heard subs that were done like that and it did not sound as good as just putting them in a Ported box tuned to 38hz and doing it that way. Now unless your going to cut the holes for them and then cut a tuned hole for the port. Otherwise you are going to be dealing with a so called sealed box and depending on the subs that you get it may sound like shit. So my opinion is just port the box if your going to cut it. Or just buy a ported box and leave the 6x9's in there.

^^not 2 sound like an ass but the above post was uneducated..
first.. wat kind of sound do you want?
once u answer that i can help u from there..
seriously plz take no offence 2 that statment.. you were just off a lil.. sealed boxes offer more sq and are often used.. i agree that ported boxes are the way to go but thats not always the case.. a ported box will let the subs get louder but the sealed box will make them sound better..
jw.. wat kind of subs are u looking at getting?
and wat is your price range?

Note what I said here Ladiesman Otherwise you are going to be dealing with a so called sealed box and depending on the subs that you get it may sound like shit.

I didn't state that a Ported box was best. From Experience it depends on your application and your subs. For instance using a set of Kicker's in a sealed box not a good choice as they were built for SPL but using a set of Planet Audio's in a sealed box they sound like the gods of SQ. But now here's a way to eliminate that issue just go out and buy an RE AUDIO MT 15 and it does SQ and SPL. So it's a multi-dimensional application sub.

By the way no hard feelings I just know a little something about subwoofers I mean my last system was in the 140db range and that was with 2 Planet Audio P112's and in a sealed box. The point I was trying to make was it DEPENDS ON THE SUBWOOFER SPECS..
