Please help! 1st gen cluster still won't work. :(

Post by Tst96 » Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:38 am

I have a 96 4dr. Plymouth neon 2.0L SOHC.
I've re-soldered the little pins in the cluster twice now. After each re-solder the cluster would work for a few days. But then it went back to only working 50% of the time. Could it be something else? Like the sensors maybe? If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks!

Might be defective. I have soldered 5 clusters total, 4 have worked perfect since.

Yes, just get another cluster. Sometimes the circuit board goes bad.

How much would a new one go for?

Lol new? This isn't a hot rod that you can restore because parts are available. I found that out the hard way... Just get a used one from a junkyard, re-solder all connections and use it.

No sir. What did you think I meant? Dealer? Ha! I can't go to the dealership and ask for a brand new cluster for my '69 Chevy, I have to get it aftermarket! They don't make stuff like that for our neons...
