Painting Valve Covers

there are bolts all around the edge of the vc, (be careful they break easy) and unplug the plug wires and the coil (you can leave coil on or take it off with the 4 bolts (96 +) 95 it is up on a platform and it is three of the VC bolts that hold it. not hard just make sure you don't mess up / lose the gasket. underneath you will pretty much see your rockers and cam.

well first you must unplug and then unbolt the coilpack and take the spark plug wires out of the valve cover, after this you need to unbolt the valve cover there are 8 bolts holding it on i do believe, then if it is like mine there is a little ground strap on the left side of the valve cover, you need to take this off too, once all of this is done you should be able to lift on the valve cover and it should come off. Underneath it you will find the camshaft(s) and the valve train components

do you know what the seal is made out of? rubber?
Do i need a new one if i take of the valve cover?

you dont really need high temp paint, the valve cover doesnt get hot enough. sand it clean, use a high temp primer, spray on even coats. use chapstick on lettering if you don't want the paint to stay on. here's the outcome of what I did.
