How do i drain my MTX tranny fluid?

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

Yes, you are way off with that.

Unless the transmission recommends gear oil then you shouldn't put gear oil in a transmission.

mopar mtx fluid for a neon is ATF+4 I'm still old skool & cheap and running dexron3/mercon, changed to it at 158,xxx and still going good at 316,xxx miles. Running 75w90 gear oil won't hurt anything its recommended in the 95 and 97 fsm's.

I'm not trying to bust your balls, but that's terribly wrong man. Gear oil will hurt the neon MTX synchros badly. ATF+4 can be used, but it shouldn't be unless you drive the car very easy. The only reason why Chrysler started using ATF+4 in the second gen MTX was to save money. Here are the only fluids you should consider putting in a T-350:

- Mopar T-350 fluid
- Mobile 1 High Mileage 10W-30 motor oil
- Redline MTL
- Pennzoil Synchromesh
- Amsoil Synchromesh
- Royal Purple Synchromax
- ATF +4 (for light-duty use only)

I use the Amsoil fluid, and it works great at any RPM, load, and temp. The only reason I used it instead of the original Mopar T-350 oil was because it was cheaper.

I don't believe I am ignorant.

The "I'm with stupid" smiley is just a joke. It's not an attack on someone, I agree with him.

haha no, u took that all wrong buddy, I was sayin that I am ignorant, not Stupid. but theres no smiley for ignorance, so i let u slide lol

The whole purpose of this was to figure out what to use in the tranny if say you do not use what is in the book... thats it, I just figured maybe theres a better fluid than ATF but what I used was wrong... :(

Get the gear oil out ASAP! The ATF+4 is a better choice than that. Hell, any 10w30 motor oil would be better than using gear oil.

Then do a few changes.

Change it, drive it a couple weeks, then do another change.

It's not that complicated of a task.

I would put something cheap in it (like ATF+4 or 10w30 motor oil), drive it, and then change to whatever approved fluid you want to use.

OK, maybe its like ingesting muratic acid to a neon BUT, the 1997 factory service manual on chapter 21 section 2 recommends mopar hypoid gear oil gl-4 75w-90 or 75w-85w
I do usually trust the recommendations provided that will not hurt my vehicle or a customers vehicle.

And on ch. 21 sec. 37 of the 1995 fsm recommends mopar hypoid gear oil gl-4 75w-90
