WHEEL HOP!!!

Post by Archametes » Sun May 06, 2007 2:30 pm

I recently put the Solid Bobble strut in my car and put the Ksport Lowering springs on too. Now when I go to launch from a light the wheels hop a bit.... Not extreme but a noticable amount. Also at higher RPM's and full throttle the car seems to be slipping? It feels like a stutter. I'm not sure why this would happen now and not before..... I also put the Prothane Mount inserts in the front motor mount, I have to get them for the side ones..... could this be the cause? Let me know any opinions or suggestions..... I wanna get this fixed before I put the turbo kit on the car which I was planning for next weekend ........

Did you replace the Struts when you did the springs. if they are higher milage that is most def. what is causing it. also could be control arm bushings. Check them for tears and wear

New struts all the way around about 300 miles ago. I planned on changing the sway bar linkages too because the rubber is all cracked but not sure why the problem would start now and not before....

The front mount is solid and the side mounts now have the polyurethane bushing inserts in them. It still does it but not as much now...? I'm totally confused......

couple things it could be.
either driveline angle is horribly screwed up in which case you'd probably be bustin axles if it was that far out.
Struts are valved way too soft/springs are worn out.
or as mentioned above control arm bushings or other front end parts are hammered.

Why do you say that? I never had that problem with stock mounts and booger bobble on my first two Neons and I wasn't really nice to them.

ok, in my experience over 9 neons, every 5 speed car w/ a solid bobble and otherwise stock mounts, the bobble has come through the bracket, broken the tabs off the cross member or broken the bracket/transmission where the bracket bolts to it.
