8500rpm ecu?

Just install MegaSquirt or some other system that allows you to tune your car, or just have a question about tuning and the options available? Feel free to ask it here.

8500rpm ecu?

Post by bpshn » Sun Jul 15, 2007 5:31 pm

does anyone have knowledge of someone who can program a ecu to rev out at 8500 and still hold the same fuel map as a mopar per. ecu?

Nope, especially being that the code is copyrighted.
But what you supposedly can do is add your own piggyback, like megasquirt, to keep adding fuel after the pcm goes into fuel cut. Just something I've read.
Tons of info here http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t ... highlight=

for reasons better left un-told, a piggyback controller is out of the question. iv seen a ad from jet (i think) saying they can build whatever you want but they are slow at replying.

Highest revving PnP PCM I know of is the AFX race. As far as I know, Howell is the only company able to alter the neon's PCM. You may want to call them and see if they can program a PCM to your specs. Other than that, Megasquirt or a stand alone.

neons.org has a full forum section devoted to it and a big FAQ on it.
Go there and read it i don't think anyone wants to explain it all here.

Stand alone = full control ... in the fewest words.

And forget about Jet, from what I have heard the only independent dyno testing of a Jet ECU resulted in no HP gains. Megasquirt or other standalone used as a piggyback is going to be the only way to get a rev limiter higher than what you get with the AF/X Race.

got some answers. not the ones i wanted but, b&g chrysler can do the stock computers but they have to be in the car. the mopar per. ones they cant do. talked to jet and after about 30 sec. decided they were junior at it. ended up getting a full race open loop from howell. only 7800 rpm but its a learnable unit so i hope the programing outweighs a 700 rpm differental. thanks everyone for the imput.

afx race's should go over 8k unless they toned it down.

Honestly for the money you'll spend on the afx get the megasquirt. With megatune it'll pretty much take care of itself once you get the thing to idle. Some polishing is never bad but the autotuners that come w/ most of the standalone ems's are pretty damn good.

when i ordered it from howell they said id have it the first of the week(this last mon or tues) called today to see when it was shipped and a different guy told me 4-8 weeks. i kind of lost it at that time and said they lied to me to get the sale. i told them when i ordered it that if i couldnt have it in a week ,i didnt want it and would do something different. he said the guy that programs them is a retired mopar computer engineer and lives like he is retired. will take off and they wont hear from him for weeks at a time. told them they still lied to me to get the sale and sounded like they didnt care. PROBABLY THE TAST TIME I DEAL WITH THEM!!!!
