fuel pump fuse problem
fuel pump fuse problem
Hey guys, im having a fuel pump fuse problem. My car just recently has started to blow the 20a fuse for the fuel pump, ive tried a 25 and 30 fuse but it blows them too. some fuses can get me all around town and some only a few feet before they blow. does anyone know whats up? Ive checked my ground and they all look good, maybe the fuel pump is getting ready to blow? I have no idea, the wiring and fuse box, everything looks in good condition. If you gots some idea let me know. Its pissing me off. lol
You said you checked wiring around the box and your grounds but did you check for shorts? Check your O2 sensors, a hot wire may be grounding out....

check o2 sensor wiring. also check the asd relay, if that is shorted internally it'll blow the 20a.

fuel pump fuse blows
I don't know if you have found the problem yet, but I had the same problem. I checked the wiring and found the alternator wiring shorted. It really fried a bunch of wires!! I repaired all the wires, and it works fine now.
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average!!

fuel pump fuse blows
No, I don't have pictures but green/orange wire at the alternator shorted out to the solid green wire at theplug to the alternator. It also fried ALL of the wires to the downstream O2 sensor. I hope this helps, Good Luck!!

this seems to be quite tur with alot of guys but when mine was shorting i removed the whol harness and then removed all te wire loom and taping from around the down stream o2 right before it went past the alternator and head back towards the sensor and found all four of the wires were exposed and the insulation had corroded away some how??? anyways i spiced in some new wire and all is good now. (or was it the alt wires???? owell i would check it all out)jrumann59 wrote:The downstream O2 sensor has a nasty habit of shorting out on the CV and blowing the fuel pump fuse though it looks like I may have found an answer to getting rid of the DS O2 altogether without using AF/X or a standalone.
