Motor and tranny question.
Motor and tranny question.
Currently im running a SOHC ATX, but i am switching to a DOHC MTX. i should probably just buy a whole new engine but i just rebuilt this one under 1k miles ago. But my questions are, would it be easier to modify the harness, or to buy a new one? And what really needs to be changed on the head? I dont want to know what doesnt have to be changed, just confuses me lol.

Its easier to buy a DOHC harness. Theres several little differences in connectors, and wire length.
Yes, DOHC fuel rails are different, as well as the hard heater lines under the intake manifold.
Theres a lot of things that need to be changed, though none are difficult or hard to come by. What exactally are you wondering about the head?

Its very simple to use the SOHC harness on a DOHC. Lengthen the coolant temp sensor wires and change the TPS connector. Almost all sensors are interchangeable between SOHC and DOHC engines. DOHC's have a different camshaft sensor, TPS, and possibly IAC. Ive run into a few different TPS pigtails, so just be sure to get one that fits whatever DOHC TPS you find.
I have done this before, and it was easy.

I make a bracket for $35 shipped that slips over the auto k-member to give you a mounting point for the bobble strut.
You need to change the head, timing covers, timing belt, passenger engine mount, hard heater tubes, intake and exhaust manifolds.
