well, as you all know ive had some weird ideas on here but the on i am actually doing isnt so werid. This friday i will be taking the engine and tranny out of my 2004 SXT and droping it into my 1995 neon. this is because the 2004 i have does not have a title. the 1995 i have does but has no engine or tranny, so it all works out. the 04 only has 58xxx miles on it. fellow 1gn member 2.Slo will be doing this all with me this weekend. what does everybody think of orange 1gn's?

Lol, what a waste. You are gonna spend so much time wiring that in, and it's just a SOHC.

Bet it doesn't run!

That is a big waste. Like chip said, there will be so much time and money swapping over the NGC wiring and electronics and all you will be left with is a stock 2.0.

you would be better off parting out the 04 on ebay or the org.

Yeah its more dicking around then you would want. Find a cheap motor and trans from a 1gn and put it in your your 1gn. and do w/e you want to the 2nd gen.

I have the stock motor out of my '02, with just over 50K on it waiting for the correct 1 GN to come along. The motor only ever had Mobil 1, and 95% of the mileage was freeway driving. Since it's an '02, no craptastic NGC!

That's not bad Tom, that'll drop right in.

Ace will have one hell of a time. First with wiring up the NGC stuff, and second he'll need a bellhousing for the trans since it's a hydraulic clutch. And only 2 reasons I see for swapping to hydraulic clutch are for a bleed down valve for launching, and for SRT trans.

if it is a 04 in good shape with low miles.... why wouldn't you just get another title for it, not that hard, unless it's stolen of course [-X

Lol, what's gonna be so cool about doing 100x the amount of work to put a STOCK engine in.

I wish I could put money on this thing not running or moving lol.

I understand having no title for the 2004. I understand not having an engine for the 95. I don't understand why you don't sell the engine/trans from the 2004, and buy an engine/trans for the 95 that will bolt right in and fire up.

I think it's retarded to do all those wiring mods and figuring out what to do with the hydraulic clutch (unless you have a cable bellhousing) for just a DD. That thing will be so hacked together I bet it'll have a few simple issues that are near impossible to trace.

I've seen someone wire up a 95 to accept a 97 wiring harness so he could use an AF/X race computer, and that was a hack job. He eventually went to megasquirt, could never get it to run right, and the car got parted out, I got the complete exhaust setup.

Go for it though, but I don't think it's gonna work.

Put it on craigslist as an engine for a 2003-2005 Neon and ask for like $500 and see what happens. Just cuz you can't sell it to someone right away doesn't mean you should rewire a car to put it in, especially when you can easily find a running SOHC for cheap to put in there.

Hell every Wednesday in Wadsworth, IL you an get an engine for $75 plus $25 or so core charge. So for about $105 you can get an engine. They have more than enough SOHC Neons there. Just look for one that has the newer headgasket, low miles, and got smoked. If the body looks good, then there is another reason the car is there. You gotta pull it yourself but that's why you save money.

That's where I got the engine for the aqua car and the dude says it runs great, it ran great for me when I drove it.

$105 for a running engine ain't bad at all.

like I said before, you can part out the 04 on ebay. If everything on the car is good, just no title there is no reason why you can't get a good bit of money for the parts. more work, but the car will no longer be your headache
