2.2 CRD swap...is it possible ?

Post by uta_flyinghigh » Fri Feb 22, 2008 6:35 am

It appears my local JY has a totalled PT Cruiser that has the 2.2 CRD engine. Since the PT also has the 2.4 engine and the swap has been done by a lot of people, is it possible to get the CRD engine in and create the first diesel Neon ?

Any engine swap is possible with money and fabrication. There is no mount adapter that will fit that engine. You would have to use all of the wiring and engine management from the PT since its a diesel.

I assumed that it would at least fit right in. Thanks for the help.

Lol, just like the 420a block is the same as the Neon block, and 4g63's came in 2g DSM's as well as the 420a, the 4g63 should swap over, right?

yeah, what are you guys at now? I know It was like $8 a gallon when I was visiting Ireland in 2000

I'd love to get my hands on that engine for a biodiesel conversion. I can buy the fryer oil new and convert it for around 60 cents a gallon.
