2.4!!!

Post by vielecustoms » Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:04 am

I may have a 2.4 for my neon! my father is buying a seabring with a blown 2.4 and plans on getting another from his freinds junkyard to drop in. So I'm going to tear apart the blown 2.4 and see what the damage is...

just a few questions...

1.) will the srt turbo and mainfold bolt up?
2.) Could I / should I use the Srt internals?
3.) what else do I need to make it work?
4.) can I make it pass emissions in my neon?

Thanks, now I am going to read everyone else's 2.4 posts!

Whatever Neon one you want. 3.94 is far cooler than the 3.55.

Its really not a huge difference. If I was going to go turbo down the line I would rather have a 3.55.

Eh we'll see how much of a difference it makes once a fuckin' track opens. But by the time I get to a track now I'll probably be running MS with a much bigger tb and custom intake when I get around to making one.

But generally the 3.94 shaves off .2-.3 or so. Of course now I gotta shift to 4th instead of rolling through traps in 3rd at 6400 rpm...

I'd still pick the 3.94 over the 3.55 with a turbo. Better gearing still puts more torque to the ground.

I agree. If you know how to launch the car properly, the 3.94 is the way to go. Most people want to put 3.55's in there setup because they cant handle the initial torque.

I know REKIII is using a 3.94 in his turbo Neon (should run 10's this year when he gets it together) and pretty sure Len Ayala is as well. Those are some pretty high powered turbo setups, Bob should put down like 500 whp and Len has put down more than that.

And look at what the auto guys are doing.......and what is there gearing like? I have driven fast cars with high and low final drives and it is much easier to maintain control and go faster with a lower final drive. As far as the neon trannys go the there really is not a hug difference betwen the 3.94 and the 3.55....everyone just likes to argue about it.

Well I'm just saying I'd use a 3.94, which is what he asked.

And the auto guys are using autos because they seem to hold up better than the manuals do.

And the gear ratios are more user friednly for drag racing a high 9 second low 10 second car.

Also look at the tires and other goodies those high power guys are using..

Not to mention there turbo spool a lil slower then an srt turbo that is instant... The torque comes on a lil slower i would say.
