Go get an alignment if you didn't. Whenever you touch the steering or suspension your alignment will be thrown off. Most likely the issue unless you have some loose bolts or something.

DOHC = 9.6:1 SOHC = 9.8:1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Neon_engine#2.0 Ya do what Chris97 said. DOHC pistons in a good block. SOHC block is the same as DOHC. Then just use your DOHC head and you are laughing. Make sure you get a good block that hasn't been bored out or anything stupid though.

Honestly a head gasket can be done with a friend in a solid day with a few beers :D If it is rings then swapping the motor is probably best unless you wanna get hardcore and do a rebuild. If it has me I'd probably look for a well running motor or decent short block. But just a head gasket I would re...

IIRC, that would be a 95 block they sold you. I remember reading an article on ALLPAR about the bearing tabs on the 95 block VS 96-99. I could be wrong and correct me if I am but I believe you have a 95 block.

What colour is the smoke? Does it have a sweet smell to it or does it smell terrible like oil burning? If it is more white with a sweet smell you most likely have a head gasket issue.

As for the stalling issue, I would say something to do with idle air control.

Also having a thermostat with a jiggle valve really helps get rid of the air in the system.

I'll vouch for the Melling pump putting out great amounts of pressure at idle and high rpm.

I would assume this neon is an ATX by the sounds of it. If the trans is not engaging until that type of rpm I have a feeling it is low on fluid and slipping. There is a detent cable that runs from the throttle body to the trans so make sure that cable is not broken or damaged. If your RPMs are incre...

the idle may be the IAC motor being told to compensate for switching into gear like drive or reverse and since it can't detect that signal it will stay high or low. either way if you can drive it without tripping codes i think its time you found yourself another MTX pcm. yours sounds like it pooped ...

Just a bit of FYI, the hydraulic tensioners over time will weaken and not put the required tension on the belt and at high rpm or high load the belt is more likely to skip. Especially if the belt has been replaced and the tensioner has been reused. The second design of the mechanical tensioner is a ...

May as well. Just toss it in and see if there is any change in the code. If it comes up the same on a new pcm you have some hardcore issues with wiring.

Between the two codes, according to my service manual, I would say you have a wiring issue between the PCM and coil pack. Code 43 - Peak primary circuit current not achieved with the maximum dwell time. Code 11 - No distributor reference signal detected during engine cranking. Check circuit between ...

P0300 is a random misfire code. Check plugs, wires and coil pack. Code 43 on the neon side is the same thing essentially. The code 11 would be the crank sensor. If you just replaced it then the code has simply not been cleared yet. Have you tried a different cam position sensor? For the sake of tryi...

Headlights are decent. They are cheap APC stuff but work fairly well. Turbo, I/C and injectors are all SRT4. Injectors are S1. Ya the coolant bottle was originally done by Monday on the org. I can't take credit for it but it was a sweet idea to get rid of the huge overflow in the back of the engine ...
