Would it be easier to setup the front disk setup as the rear disk setup, and run a proportioning valve to set the rear bias up? Shipping via USPS will eat up that $40. I just sent one to TX on Thursday in a 18" x 12" x 12" box, 12 pounds. That's about as small of a box as you can use for the intake. As for determining what you have, a 3.55 trans should turn around 2200 RPM @ 60. The 3.94 w/.72 5th should be around 2450 RPM @ 60, and the 3.94 w/.81 5th should be around 2750 RPM @ 60.
