Pacesetter Cat-Back Exhaust

Post by das2123 » Fri Mar 16, 2007 9:51 am

When I bought my Pacesetter Cat-Back Exhaust back in 2002 I was so freaking excited. After about a week the yellow paint in the tips burned off and after about 2 years, here is what it looked like.

I actually tried to take care of it as well, but alas this was the final result.

I wasn't on the .org before I bought it, so I had no idea of the poor quality of this exhaust. I won't be purchasing another muffler from Pacesetter.

Yeah they have had the rep for rusting... Its sometimes cheaper to buy the dynomax pipe and pick your muffler. although there header isn't too bad

actually they updated the exhaust and make it out of aluminized steel now so it won't rust. I'm having the same problem with my pacesetter dual exhaust. I've had it for about almost 5 years now, but its not that bad, the pipes just have a little surface rust , my paint and chrome are still on mine. although a small spot of chrome has chipped. I love the sound of it though.. I get compliments all the time.

And not to rag on anyone who chose to buy one, but even brand new I always though they both looked and sounded like crap.

Aluminized must mean worse, lol. Well the exhaust has a deeper tone which is what I was looking for, I hate raspy exhausts. SOHC sounds and DOHC sounds are different. I'm thinking about cutting it short and making a side exit out of it.

I was very pleased with the header on my SOHC, as it has shown to be the best for SOHC's.

I have a dohc header that has been rewelded. If only they came welded better from the factory and had the ports cleaned up a bit, they would be great. I love the one i have now, mainly because i did clean up the ports and the welds have been re done. If you can score one cheap, its def worth the effort to install.

I have a header from them. I used it for 2 years and loved it. Saw decent gains and I loves the sound of it. Good piece.

I agree, mine was (is) excellent. I have the dual Vibrant exhaust, I always thought it looked and sounded better.

As far as port-matching, what needs to be done to the Pacesteer SOHC header, if anything?

I've actually never had any problems with the welds, maybe because I had the motor mount inserts before I got the header. However, as I understand, there may be some port-matching issues?
