|
|
This is the project log for the car that I've named 13. My last car had rusted wheel wells, and I'd rather not do body work if I don't have to.
This build will consist largely of the old parts from my old car, with some upgrades along the way as well as a built head. Not too many pics at the moment, but more to come.
Bringing it home:
Hole in the trunk that will need to be cut out and replaced:
Suspension off of the old car with prothane bushings and extended lug nuts.
The car came with TYC clear headlights in the trunk, so the stockers came out and the TYC headlights and Euro turns went in. No pics of the new lights installed yet....
The car up on stands:
Keep in mind that this will be a daily driver/weekend track whore, not a drag or show car. I am however hoping for 170 hp with stock bottom end, decked head, Crane 16's and an S-AFC Neo. We'll see. _________________

Crappy pic of the lights installed:
2gen seats:
I still need to put a recliner mechanism from a coupe on the passenger's side to allow access to the back seat when needed, but these seats should be more comfortable than the crappy, worn 1gen seats. _________________

Pre-bent brake lines are in at the dealership. I'm getting my father to pick them up with his truck. Pre bent brake lines from the master cylinder to the rear flex hoses for $22 including tax=awesome. _________________

If they weren't so long and awkward I would buy a couple more complete sets just to have them in stock for when they are discontinued. I can still barely believe how little they cost. _________________

I'm pretty sure they will always be that cheap due to the fact that they're a recall item.
Project is looking good. I'd go ahead and do a quicky clean up job on the underneath and wheel wells while it's up on the stands and hit everything with some gloss black Krylon. It makes a huge difference. _________________ 2004 E-Blue SRT-4

Modified SRT shifter:
Just the stock PT style knob for now, but I'll be looking for a die to tap it with to use a quality aftermarket knob.
Better pic of the headlights:
Brake lines:
Taking out the sound deadening :
Just pulled the carpet up
At least 5lbs here:
Just the ashphalt stuff left. Blowtorch time soon.

I do not agree with your shift boot, but I completely support you and pat you on the back for doing something unique and different. What exactly is that pattern?
Also, thanks for posting a how-to on installing the SRT shifter in a 1st gen. I'm glad to see somebody continuing to support the site by adding knowledgable info in a well written, well documented how-to. _________________ 2004 E-Blue SRT-4

Well thanks for the props. The boot is made out of some RDS (Red Dragon Skates) fabric. If you're not a skateboarder, you probably wouldnt get it. _________________

There inlies the problem. I've never been coordinated/interested enough to skateboard.
I actually think it's cool now that it's something you're into and not some gay designer label fabric. I'll be following this project, I like people who try unique and different things while still keeping it clean and tasteful. You've definitely got that down. _________________ 2004 E-Blue SRT-4

dropped the gas tank yesterday. I'll be pulling the intake airbox and exhaust and manifold this week for ease of installation of the brake lines and because I won't be using the stock ones anyway. _________________
