dohc swap or stay sohc?

Post by neon=ferrari » Mon Jan 20, 2014 6:42 pm

I need some outside opinions on this one. First off I have all of the parts and time to do either build. I could do a complete dohc swap or a modified sohc.

SOHC build
DOHC pistons
port and polish
95 cam
head decked 30 thousandths
3 angle valve job
57mm tb
dohc mpp pcm
3.0 cai

OR

DOHC build
full dohc swap pistons and all
port and polish
short tube header
mpp DOHC pcm
57mm tb
3.0 cai

Side notes: the car has a modified atx because its my DD, don't tell me to swap to mtx, car year is 1997

Of the options listed, the dohc was my choice. Have since moved on to a 2.4L, but the dohc has better cam shaft selection and tuning options over the sohc. Would also add an udp to the block. With the better flowing dohc head, your mpg's should be a bit better also.
