I'll tell ya what, I know this setup works, because I've heard it in person and I know it bangs for the money. Get a pair of RE REX 8" subs, get a nice ported box for them that has the right amount of space, and run a good amp on them. About 250 rms to each, and you'll be bangin.

Are you looking to compete or something on a serious budget or do you want something to get noticed?

im just looking for some bass that i can make other people look bad lol. budget is iffy. i dont want to spend a whole lot of cash but i will have to if i want a good set up. space is an issue too, i travel alot so the smaller the better but i want something i can turn up o make those ricers feel ashamed at the stop light. something you can feel from outside the car. but something i can afford. ill spend like 350 if i have to. other then that its iffy. still even 350 is alot for my situation

Your best bet is to get an mtx thunder box, most of the time you can get it with the amp for less than $250 for 12's if you want 10's I'm sure thier even less but on budget they are good subs. I would shop around a bit though at your local audio shops, I went to one local where I am a few days ago and they had some brand that had the amps built right in the box and they started at $159 so do your research you may find something less then the mtx's that suits your needs better. Also to don't forget the wiring kit, for a setup your doing you need to at least buy a wire kit thats $30-40 bucks, get at least 8-6 guage the thicker the wire the better the sound.

The setup I recommended would get right in your budget if you use a different amp.

If you do at least one 10 you should be fine, I have 1 infinity 10 with the amp built in and it hits pretty good.

Easier to find yourself a 1000W max, 2 channel Amp.
OR
500W Max Monoblock amp, which i think is one like 2drsrt4 posted.
99% of amps are advertised with their max outputs.
But like 2dsrt4 said, 250rms would bang those subs. 8's sound good in a Neon too. when I blow my 12's, I might go to 8's.

Those RE's BANG. One of those would kill. The 10" RE REX bangs too, just not sure on the price.

The one I posted does more than 500 RMS even though it's rated at 500 RMS. Rockford Fosgate even includes their amp "birth sheet" that gives the actual wattage the amplifier puts out when it was made. Rockford is an amazing company for amplifiers and when I do my system I won't buy anything BUT Rockford amps for it. They're the best, and will be the best for a long time.

I bought my infinity used for $100 5 years ago when I had my blazer it made sense with the amp built in it didn't take up much space. Really nice in a small trunk, you don't loose the trunk space.
