|

Okay I'm new in the forums, and I have question.
I currently have 1996 Plymouth Neon Highline Sedan
ATX, SOHC..
Now this car has some MAJOR electrical problems. It burnt through a ground strap and a small fire occured. So with my excellent thinking I've decided to use my neon as a parts car and just buy a newer neon with no engine. I'm in the process of buying a 1999 neon that the guy said had a DOHC, However I think it was a style edition... So I'm waiting to know for sure. But in case it was a DOHC will my '96 SOHC engine fit like it should?
Please let me know, thanks! _________________ Tyler Hubbard |

I believe they will swap fairly simple, all the mounts are the same for the most part, main things will be harnesses, sensors, and the ecu. Is the dohc blown thats in the car? _________________ 99 2 dr R/T DOHC coupe, all the bells and whistles... |

Well the car doesn't have an engine at all. But he said everything but the engine is there. Wiring harness and transmission. I still think it's a "style" edition which means it has the SOHC but for now I'm just going to say it's DOHC. So what needs to be changed with wiring harness and sensors to make my SOHC work? _________________ Tyler Hubbard |

I'm not quite sure about the harness, I know that a 97 or lower harness won't work on a 98 or higher, the connections are different but you can change the sensors over. I bought a car with a blown dohc and changed it with another dohc, biggest issue was changing the sensors over, being that my motor came from a 96 and the car I have is a 99 had to change over all the sensors for the different shaped connectors and also the fuel rail cause the injectors were different as well. Mainly keep an eye out for different connectors, also the coil pack may have a different end on it as well, hope this helps somewhat! _________________ 99 2 dr R/T DOHC coupe, all the bells and whistles... |

My main concern is the wiring issue. My current neon has so many engine wiring problems. Sigh I don't want more but any help is good for me. So thank you! _________________ Tyler Hubbard |
