I've bought/sold a good dozen in past year or so, not including the couple I sent to junkyards. My dad has one, sister has one, brother had one then sold it since he just joined Marines, guy at work bought one for his kid, gf drives one, etc. Those are just the ones I hardly made anything on since I sold them for what I had into them, plus fixing the stupid little things that come up within a few weeks of buying a 13 year old Neon. But they all seem to like them, especially the part about getting them for $1200 or less.

That's about all I can get for them around here too.

The best buy that I ever got from the sale was a '95 red Highline MTX. They said the tranny was gone and I paid $300 for it 4 years ago. Of course it just needed boogers so $20 later I sold it to my mom for $600. She still drives the thing today. She hasn't had to drop another dime into it other than oil (valve guide seals) and the plastic fuel line. The A/c even works! The car has like 170k on it.

Dad gave me $1200 for his (t belt, hg, rebuilt head, new alt and battery etc when he got it, since then I've done rear brakes and brake lines)
Sister gave me $800 (since she bought it I replaced driver's door cuz window regulator broke, tie rod end, water pump and t-belt)
Brother gave me $700 for his
Got $1200 from guy at work for that one, I paid $500 for car, drove it home nicely (caliper liked to stick) and did front brakes, rear strut, and caliper hose so I made $500 on that one.

Got $1800 for one a few months ago that I had $800 into, got $2400 out of a Talon I had $800 into (had to rebuild a 420a cuz the "oil leak" the car had was really a hole in the block lol), and I still have a driveway full of Neons.

The worst I ever did was a '99 forest green highline. It had 92k on it and was in good shape on the inside and outside. I was thinking, "Two grand, easy", it was going to be a moneymaker.

The car had new front calipers, pads, and rotors when I bought it

So after repairing the head gasket (bolts, upper gasket set, sanding the head), TB, water pump, radiator, and I even pulled the interior to pressure wash it.

I had almost $900 in the damn thing, so after sitting on Craigslist for over two months, I settled for $1200 :slap:

The thing I remember most about it though, was it's wierd option package.... It had power windows, locks, and even the light package with the map light rear view mirror. But no cruise or tilt wheel. :?:

Lol, I never pick one up unless I can sell it for $1000 and still make a couple hundred. My gf's right now we bought for $200 and I did hg, water pump, t-belt, etc for another $200-250. So $450 into it, clean 95 sohc coupe atx with 92k on it. If we only get $1000 for it after she drives it a bunch, oh well.

I've had lots of those. Nothing better than driving a car for a couple months and still making a nice profit on it :)

My NYG has cost me about $800 total, including rebuilding a 2.4 for it. I've been driving it for a year now.

The Highline I just sold made me $300 and I had it for about a year.

My coupe cost me $450 and all it needed was a front cam seal. It's been sitting in the back lot at work for a little under 2 years now. So I'm just now being able to enjoy it, (in this shitting snow  ) until I get the Jeep fixed.

say what? Chip not breaking a car for an entire year?

I need proof of such far-fetched claims.

Lol, I never said that. I rebuilt a 2.4 for it in November when the tired old 2.0 finally locked up. Had 185k on it.

The lady we picked it up from in PA about 2 years ago had a "problem with drinking and driving" in it (her words). Several bottles of nitrous were pushed through it by my buddy after we got it (he's retarded with this kinda stuff). Then he sold it to a friend at work, who drove it for 3 weeks with the headgasket leaking oil so badly out the corner by the trans that it went through 3 qts a day. It had the ORIGINAL fiber headgasket in it (I replaced it last January).

Then it caught on fire a few weeks later (found out someone rigged up a newer style solid state fan relay to jumper off the original black relay and the wire rubbed through. This thing had 3 fan plugs and 1 fan ). I got it for $250, fixed it for free (parts galore) and drove it for 8 months with the weakest 2.0 DOHC I've ever driven.

Took it to redline every day and it finally locked up on my way home from work. Rebuilt a 2.4 and tossed it in (thanks to a November heat wave) and it's got 3k on engine now :).

But it runs great and pulls good :)

And in the meantime, the 2.4 I put in my purple car last spring burned oil real bad (replaced just about everything but the rings and they weren't the best). My gf drove it for a couple weeks last fall when her Mazda blew out it's brake lines. She ignored my warning that if the oil light ever came on, to stop and call me, and drove the last mile or so home with the oil light on and by the time she got here, it was louder than fuck. Man was I pissed, it ran high 14's last summer. Oh well, it's getting a new engine next week (literally brand new).

And the grand prix we bought the day after the purple car died got totalled cuz she decided to run a stop sign at school in the parking lot. Had it almost 2 months and I fixed it up real nice for her ass too.

I drive mine until they go right into the junkyard. The car I had before the neon (in HIGH SCHOOL, I'm 27 now!), literally blew up before I gave up on it. But my wife sees her old car driving around now and then. She had an old luxury car.
