im tired of my sun roof not working and it leaks water when it rains for a long period of time. whats the best way to just seal it off? is there nething lighter i could put in place of the glass window to save some weight?

The only reason a sunroof will leak water into the interior is if the drain tubes are clogged, missing, or damaged. The seal around the glass is not intended to keep water from entering. Fix the drain tubes and you will probably fix your leak.
