Water really shouldn't be a problem unless the entire filter was underwater...and you shouldn't be driving in that deep of water anyways...

I have an ATX and there's just enough room for the exhaust piping to go next to it and down a bit more for a filter to fit on but I think it'll be too low. I know you said if you have ATX you should cut the piping more like 5" instead of 11". But is there a lot of heat that rises off the tranny? Because in that case I'd rather have the filter below the tranny. I dunno if that would actually make it any different though.

I got mine done today. I just cut the piece of exhaust piping that goes down really short so the filter would sit right in front of my ATX and behind that hole behind the bumper cover.

I originally tried to have it sit more under the car but because of the ATX, it made it sit way too low...like a couple inches from the ground. So I moved it up.

The radiator gets pretty damn hot though, doesn't it? My filter is like RIGHT next to the radiator. Does it get as hot as the exhaust manifold?

Also, what if I moved the filter to the other side of the intake manifold? I only have one fan and the radiator so to the left of it there's a bunch of open space. Has anyone tried that?

You could move it to the other side, But I don't really see much point.
Yes the radiator can get hot, but your filter is WAY better off down by the rad instead of the exhaust manny!

very good post. I did this to my car worked great. I put mine higher were the battery drain pipe went throuh the core suport and used the pipe backwards to bring air in from the front of the bumper.
