srt4eh is correct one on each side, you'll find indentions for them, I can't remember bolt size but def easier to get out with a deep socket.

its either 10mm or 13mm. you can get them from uptop with a shallow socket works best if you ask me. but undo those and then the box will drop down. put your bolts back in as they hold the heat shield for exhaust to and make sure you re atach the ground wire on the passenger side bolt. i have a strut brace so i had to open the air box as if to pull the filter and fish the two haves out seperately, but without the strut brace you may not need to do this. and im not sure if your new cai puts the filter back there or not but it wont be much or any gain if it does. so i would look into the 3.0 cai in the how to section. it truely does make a big difference to do this one.

:? a CAI behind the engine is counter-productive ... you'll be on top of the exhaust manifold & the air will be "hotter"

He never said that that is where his CAI puts the filter...just wanted to know how to remove the airbox that sits above the exhaust

Other than the Iceman (no longer in production) can you name one that doesn't place the filter between the valve cover and the firewall ?

3.0 intake and back in the day the IPP CAI put the filter down below the brake master

After reading again it says he has a WRX inspired functional hood...that tells me that it's probably dumping cold air down between the valve cover and firewall which could help a warm air intake breathe a little cooler air
