No, and for a good reason. Because it ISN'T a 420A. The 420A is the DOHC engine based of off the neon engine with a reverse flow head that was put in the Eclipse.

The engine block, no matter if anyone has ever officially "called it a 420a", is a 420a.

The head has nothing to do with it. Why do you think the Eclipses with the 420a engines, have a Chrysler Penti-star stamped on the engine block? DSM/Mitsubishi didn't call it a 420a. Mopar/Chrysler did.

Chrysler didn't call it a 420A, Mitsubishi did. Chrysler just manufactured the blocks for Mitsubishi in America.

So, Mitsubishi gave a Chrysler engine a name.. 420a?
How can a Japanese company name a product made in America?

If Mitsubishi allowed Chrysler to manufacture the "420a" in America, then it's a Japanese motor... Not American (Chrysler).

This is making no sense whatsoever. Why does the "420a" Engine block have the Penti-star on it if it's Mitsubishi?

Almost as confusing as to why there is a Briggs & Stratton symbol stamped to the factory under drive pulley.

I don't know about that Briggs symbol stamped to the factory under drive pulley because there was no such thing! Lol Factory crank pulley is what you're referring to. Mitsubishi products made here in America though, and that were marketed for here in America got the "420A"

Briggs made the pulley. Chrysler doesn't make everything for the cars like they use to. Everything gets subbed out.
The 420a was the first domestic engine installed in an import.
end of story

I had a look at the stock pulley today, and yup, it has the briggs logo on it. Odd.
