Dome light and headlight switch

Hello, I just replaced my door jam switch because the dome light would flick on and off when the head lights were off. When i pull out the knob for to turn on the headlights the dome light turns on with the dash lights. When I turn the knob clock wise it clicks and the dome light and the dash lights turn off and the headlights stay on. How do I get on the dash lights with out the dome light?

sounds like a loose connection or something's crossed in that switch. replace the head light switch and see if that helps.

THe headlight switch is bad. Replace it.
